The
children hospital “Marie Slodowska Curie”
is a gift of the Polish people for the Romanian
people, as a result of the 1997 earthquake The
hospital has been given to use since 1984, and
has a total of 530 beds in the following departments |

In
June 1993, the “Pavilion for functional
recuperation for the children with physical
deficiencies”, was built which includes
70 beds and 30 places for companions (supported
by the American Catholic Association “Caritas”) |

In
1996, the “center for prothesis and
orthesis” was added (with support by
the “Caritas” Association) |
| |
|
|
Each
year, about 23,000 patients are attended with
different pulmonary diseases, pnemonea, diarrhea,
tonsillitis, ontological illnesses (neuroblastom),
severe anemia, leukemia, renal illnesses (glumerulonefrithis),
congenital malformations (hip sprain) , and
lots more. The patients range in ages from
1 hour to 18 years, both from Bucharest and
throughout the country. |

to minimal state funding the hospital has
constant needs both in terms of basic medical
supplies and sophisticated medical equipment
(for example currently they need some equipment
such as a MRI, (RMN, magnetic resonance imaging)
and an Echograph. |
