Back to School is a Romanian foundation that runs a private, alternative school within the state school system. They are funded through individual donations. It commenced in 1997 as a pilot project working with grades 1-4 and 25 students, a year later 5th grade was added with 15 additional students and in 1999 6th graded was added. By 2001, 7th and 8th graded were added and they now have 91 students attending the program.
   
Approximately 2/3rds of the students have lived on the street, some for as long as eight years.
   
Each student is selected individually, after testing and interviews. Only families whose monthly income is 350 lei ($114) or less (with four family members) are eligible to enrol in their children in the program.
   
Master’s Peace Foundation Provides:
 
As needed requests to provide school supplies, lunches etc (3 times per year)
Yearly Christmas party including clothing and gifts for all 91 students
